  • Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve is Member of the UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere program (MaB).
  • 383,567 hectares, 32.02% of the State of Querétaro.
  • 70% is private property, 27% is communal or common land, and 3% is federal property.
  • 100,000 inhabitants in 638 communities in five municipalities.
  • Elevation range: 200 – 3160 meters above sea level.
  • Precipitation range: 350 – 2000 millimeters per year.

TROPICAL DECIDUOUS FOREST
Covering the Sierra Gorda’s lower parts and its deep canyons, these forests dominate the region

GALLERY FOREST
Rivers and streams of the Sierra Gorda are shaded by old forests of sabinos, willows, and poplars

Like islands where clouds reign, cloud forests are real biological treasures
