The Carbon Ecosystem
The Carbon Ecosystem: a seamless, end-to-end solution for managing carbon emissions
This is where the Biodiversity Carbon Registry of the Sierra Gorda natural regeneration fits into the marketplace created by an obligatory tax on the private sector in Querétaro State, and the reporting mechanism for the corporate entities to comply with Querétaro State rules use a new Carbon Ecosystem that integrates three software to have the credibility and transparency in financing required by the three parties involved (private enterprise, state government, civil society).

Thank you FEMSA Foundation! Donation of Containers for Waste Separation
At the USEBEQ facilities in Jalpan de Serra, FEMSA personnel donated containers to separate waste correctly for different schools in the Sierra Gorda.
Environmental education is indispensable for the younger generations; they will be the voice, hope, and future life on planet Earth. We thank all the teachers and parents who work on environmental projects for a better development of their environment, and FEMSA for joining in the cleanup of the Sierra Gorda.
Biodiversity Carbon in Xilitla
We had the great pleasure to once again visit our friends and partners of the Ejidos Soledad de Zaragoza, Ollita del Pino, La Trinidad and Coronel José Castillo and make the eighth payment for the capture of CO2 in their forests. These ejidos safeguard the last remaining cloud and temperate forests in the Carso Huasteco, home to black bears and jaguars and a valuable water factory and carbon sink. All this with the support of the World Land Trust and its Carbon Balanced Program, which sees their forests to be natural capital for the ejidos. This source of income, today more than ever, after the drought and heat waves that Mexico went through this year, provide a green mantle where nature still breathes in peace.

Equipping the Forest Fire Brigades
Once again, students from the International School of Querétaro join in solidarity and in an effective way thanks to a collection organized by teacher Yeetlih Gómez, for the equipment through the GESG of forest fire fighters in the Sierra Gorda.
This time with 30 backpacks, delivered to the brigades of CONAFOR-Valle Verde, CONANP-San Juan de los Durán, SEDEA-San Juan de los Durán and SEDEA-Jalpan and last year they equipped the Valle Verde Brigade of GESG with backpacks and gaiters. We thank these young people for their capacity for action, organization, and for joining in the protection of the forests and biodiversity of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve.
Alliance with PARUNO
We received a visit from the team from Paruno, an environmentally responsible company, who together with GESG staff took a tour of the Tejamanil Ejido to learn more about the services provided by the forest.
Paruno offsets its carbon emissions with our Biodiverse Carbon program where landowners who conserve their forests in the Sierra Gorda are the beneficiaries. In addition to being a sustainable fashion company, it has evolved, today it is a cultural center, a music academy and they donated several musical instruments to GESG, which will be channeled to young musicians in the region. “At Paruno we know that music is a transformative force that can connect people in incredible ways. For this reason, and because we believe in the great work that the Sierra Gorda Ecological Group does, we have decided to donate musical instruments to this organization so that they can do with them as they see fit.”
Photo of the Month
During the strong drought and successive heat waves, the Tecolotes Bajeños were silent. Always conspicuous, their silence made me fear the worst and that they had simply perished from heat stroke, thirst or hunger in the face of few prey. So on the afternoon of the 26th it was a great joy to find this aggressive and very active specimen in the lowland jungles of Jalpan. Undoubtedly a survivor, but its species and lineage are still present and with it part of its ecosystem. Long live the tecolotes.

Let´s Protect the Forests
Fires are a serious threat that require a lot of physical effort and protective equipment. The brigades fighting for the forests of the Sierra Gorda require our help, so that they have the best equipment such as clothing, boots, helmets and adequate tools to fight the flames.
Plunging into a fire is complicated and without proper equipment it is even more so. Donate by clicking on the link and help the guardians of the forests to get the necessary equipment.
