2025 in Action
A new year, full of climatic, social and economic emergency, impossible not to see it, even the blindest have to perceive the transcendent movements that threaten the known world and where our way of life will have to adjust to their effects. Those of us who are in service to Life, we feel a call to strengthen our actions and linking all circumstances, all actions, all actors, involving all the forces we can draw on, and the good ideas and learnings that strengthen the common good.
This will be the impulse that will involve all our capacities and the possibilities that we will awaken within ourselves and with the communities to take care of our beloved treasure, the Sierra Gorda. A wave of hope and love in action, it is up to us to raise and generate regenerative synergy that keeps alive the national heritage that we safeguard and from here all our love for the Earth.
We will keep you informed. Every month we will be sharing our progress, hoping that you will join our wishes and actions, that this awareness will arise individually with local initiatives and that everyone, from their own niche, will make the corresponding efforts to relieve pressure on the planet.
In the face of the bleak outlook, it is up to us to sow hope. So, recharged and full of activities we are entering this year 2025 with all the momentum and aim at our targets.
A happy new year, full of successes, may Life fill you up,
Martha “Pati” Ruiz Corzo

Perpetual Planet: Sierra Gorda
CNN en Español and the Rolex Prize for Enterprise chose our director and Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda IAP to report a story that inspires and gives hope to a wide audience. We thank the team that made this presentation of our work possible, especially the producer Carla de Inocencio and CNN anchor Gabriela Frias and the photographers for their great work.

“Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda invests time and resources in environmental education for the youngest in an attractive and fun way: by organizing Earth Festivals. Gabriela Frías takes us to the community of Agua Zarca where the students of the Julia Alicia Álvarez Covarrubias School celebrate Earth Calling Day. A unique opportunity to highlight this year’s central theme: ‘Generations Connected’ as during this event, intergenerational learning about environmental conservation is encouraged through festivities, art and traditional dances.”
2024 and the achievements of the Sierra Gorda Alliance
In the presence of the members of the GESG Board of Directors, Mr. Rubén Hernández, Municipal President of Jalpan de Serra, and representatives of local society, we celebrated a get-together and dinner to present our annual report of activities. Thanks to all Serranos, municipalities and local, state and federal actors for being and doing their part to contribute to the care of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve, adding their grain of sand. Authorities from the three levels of government, teachers, different productive sectors and society were present. Our team shared the advances in waste management, water harvesting, forest protection through its economic value and return for its owners, forest fire fighting, organic food production, and strengthening of beekeeping, among other activities to regenerate and conserve our common home. You can consult the presentation in the link.
Winning teachers of the scholarship for graduates and projects of the Diploma in Sustainable Development: Didactic Tools for Climate Action, organized by Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda and Tec de Monterrey, participated in this enriching experience.
Day 1: We reflected on the impact of climate change, explored environmental practices and learned about outstanding school projects.
Day 2: We visited the Suelo Vivo Ranch and learned about holistic management, soil regeneration and organic farming practices.
Day 3: We addressed waste management and water harvesting strategies in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve.
This stay reinforces our commitment to environmental education and climate action – together, in order to sow a more sustainable future!
