    Second Payment for Forest Conservation!

Marco A. Del Prete third, head of SEDESU, his work team, forest owners and representatives of companies established in our state and distinguished visitors from abroad, on the occasion of the second payment for compensation of CO2 emissions, with which the industry can mitigate them. This is thanks to the public policy consolidated by SEDESU, in which the industry pays a tax for its emissions, and this allows compensating owners for the conservation of their forests.

Carbon sequestration program payment event for beneficiaries of Sello Querétaro

We are going to NYC climate week 2024, let us know about events or contacts. If you are interested in learning more about the Biodiverse Carbon Registry, contact laura@sierragorda.net

    Mexico Carbon Forum 2024

In the city of Leon, Guanajuato, on the 14th and 15th of this year, the Mexico Carbon Forum was held and GESG was present with personnel and its product Carbono Biodiverso, showing how Queretaro companies reduce their CO2 footprint, with the local protocol that allows them to offset it by economically compensating owners of the Sierra Gorda for the conservation of forests and the environmental services they provide us. From their regeneration, CO2 is captured.
We also had a working meeting with the ministry of the environment of Panama, SEDESU and OpenForests to share the local protocol and the compensation system of the state of Querétaro.

    Sustainable use

As part of the winning organizations of the call “Strengthening social participation”, supported by the Secretariat of Social Development Queretaro, our sister organization Bosque Sustentable, attended the symbolic delivery of support, which will be used for the implementation of the project “Technical and administrative support for the sustainable use and development of supply chains of higher added value of aromatic species of five ejidos of the semi-desert of Queretaro”.

    Environmental education in Huasteca Potosina

Environmental education and its activities developed in the Municipality of Xilitla have given way to take advantage of the rainy season and carry out a reforestation practice as part of the theme of biodiversity for the conservation of the environment, making children aware of the importance of trees, their ecological functions and the great impact they have on the natural environment where they live.

Thank You Guardians of our Sierra Gorda!

Roberto Pedraza Ruiz, GESG Wildlands Chief and forest fire fighter, shares a video of the beautiful mountains greening up from the fire lookout in Valle Verde, Jalpan de Serra, accompanied by Abel Reséndiz, Brigade Chief. At this site is where each of the members of our brigade took turns to watch from that observatory to the forest of the dreaded and disastrous forest fires.
A complicated and dangerous job!  We must recognize all their efforts, you can support us by donating to the donation campaign to equip the brigades that protect the Sierra Gorda.

Let’s Take Care of the Water!

The GESG has latrines or dry toilets and their use was initiated due to the alarming situation we have been going through in recent months due to the scarcity of water and extreme drought.
Despite the rains and the recovery of natural water sources, it is important to take care of it and be aware of the efficient use of this resource.
The use of latrines should be an alternative in all spaces such as workplaces, public spaces, schools and even homes.
We list the benefits of its use:
    ● Avoids wasting thousands of liters of water.
    ● No contamination of natural water streams or reservoirs, through drainage or drains.
    No piping is required.
    ● Compost is obtained.
    Easy maintenance.

    Biological Chambers

Training sessions on biological chambers for organic waste have been held in the communities of Tilaco and Pinal de Amoles.
During these sessions, local committee members received specialized training from GTA and GESG staff. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, we now have a better understanding of how to manage our waste in a sustainable manner.
We express our sincere thanks to all the citizens for their interest and commitment to the wellbeing of our community and to FEMSA foundation for funding this project. Together, we are building a greener future!
